What is Hard Anodising?: Hard Anodising is an electrochemical process where the product is ´anodised´ to prolong the life of your bakeware.
The properties of Mermaids Hard Anodised products is that it is not coated; so the product will not warp, peel or flake, providing you with years of perfect baking and roasting.
Hard Anodised Bakeware is verstaile in that it can be used in the Hob, Oven or Grill.
Why are there silver marks on the edges of the pan?: These are contact points that hold the pan during the electrochemical process. It is an intrinsic part of the manufacturing process and will not affect the performance of the bakeware in any way.
Whats Seasoning?: Seasoning a pan will help to start the ‘patina’ which develops a ‘non stick’ quality to the surface of the pan. To do this, put a generous layer of inexpensive cooking oil in the base of the tray or dish. Place in a hot oven (approx 200◦C) for about 10 – 15 minutes and then allow to cool. Remove from the oven and dispose of the oil carefully. The bakeware should then be hand washed in warm soapy water, rinsed and dried. It is then ready to use - the more the product is used, the more ‘non stick’ the surface will become.
